Sesi Bauru delivered a powerful performance defeating Dentil/Praia Clube 3 sets to 1 in the opening match of the 2024/25 Brazilian Superliga playoff semifinals. Playing away from home in Uberlândia, the São Paulo team recovered from a first-set loss to take the victory with set scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, and 25-23.
The win puts Sesi just one step away from the final. They can seal their place in the championship match with a win in the next game on April 22 at the Paulo Skaf Gymnasium in Bauru. If Praia manages to even the series, a deciding third game will be played on April 25 back in Uberlândia.
Sesi Bauru stood out with a dominant blocking game, scoring 16 points at the net compared to just 7 from the home team. Bruna Moraes was the top scorer with 21 points, followed by Mayhara Francini, who had 18 points and was named Player of the Match.
On Praia’s side, Russian outside hitter Sofya Kuznetsova led with 20 points, while Payton Caffrey added 17. However, the team struggled to maintain consistency, particularly with their blocking and service pressure.
