Two Brazilian volleyball stars decided to retire from the national team, after suffering early elimination at the Rio 2016 women’s volleyball tournament.

“I knew it would be a tough game, five sets. We were aware that China are one of the favorites here in Rio. It was a close match, until the end… I am sad. I did not want to quit the national team in this way…” said Sheilla after the match.

Team captain Fabiana could not find the right words at the end.

“I do not know what to say now. I can not talk about the game. This is my last year in the national team and I wanted to win a medal…” said Fabiana.

Sheilla and Fabiana have been playing for Brazil for years, while they both have two Olympic gold medals from Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

The third consecutive gold stayed just a dream…
