A team that has been established three months ago will join the elite competition of the Brazilian male volleyball in 2017/2018 by booking the last available ticket.
Corinthians led on the court by the captain Sérgio Santos ‘Serginho’, a two-time Olympic Games champion, won the Gold Cup (Taça Ouro), which serves as a qualification tournament for the Superliga.
Corinthians, reinforced by several current and former Brazil’s National Team members, lost the first match in the tournament (3-2 to Caramuru Castro) but triumphed in the remain two (3-0 vs. Radio Clube/AVP and 3-1 vs. Botafogo) to claim first place in the rankings.
Thus, Corinthians joined Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, Funvic Taubaté, Sesi-SP, Vôlei Renata, Montes Claros Vôlei, Minas Tênis Clube, Juiz de Fora, Lebes/Gedore/Canoas, Bento Vôlei and Copel Telecom/Maringá in the 2017/18 Superliga.
