They defeated Soligorsk away in straight sets to mark their first appearance in this competition as an excellent game. The third-placed team in Germany, in the last season, now needs to take one set to advance to the next round.
“At the start, we were shy in our actions. Frankfurt had a good defense and serving skills. At the end of the second set we had a chance, but we could not score an important ball,” says Viktar Beksha, head coach of Shakhtior.
“We are satisfied with the result in Minsk. We were not nervous, all the players acted tactically and confidently. There are new players in our team at the start of the new season, who are successfully playing in the club right now,” says Stelio DeRocco, head coach of United Volleys Frankfurt.
