WCH 2018 W: The first loss of Serbia, Japan on the wings

Serbia have suffered the first loss at the FIVB World Championship by the hosts Japan.

Miyu Nagaoka and Sarina Koga with 19 points each led Japan against Serbia to win 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23).

Yuki Ishii added 13 for Japan in the victory while Milena Rasic was the high scorer for Serbia with a match-high 20 points.

Now situation on the standings in Pool E is very complicated. Serbia, Japan and the Netherlands all have 7-1 win-loss and 21 points while Brazil have 6-2 and 18 points. 

The last matches between Serbia and the Netherlands as well between Japan and Brazil will decide which teams will go to the Final 6.

Dominican Republic – Mexico 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-15)

Brazil – Netherlands 3-2 (21-25, 25-18, 27-27, 25-19, 15-7)

Germany – Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 29-27, 25-22)

Serbia – Japan 1-3 (25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 23-25)

Standings: Serbia (7-1) 21, Japan (7-1) 21, Netherlands (7-1) 21, Brazil (6-2) 18, Germany (5-3) 14, Dom. Republica (4-4) 13, Puerto Rico (2-6) 6, Mexico (1-7) 3.
