VakıfBank made it two out of three when it comes to the appearance of the teams from Istanbul in the Champions League semifinals. The Turkish side, who is the reigning champion, was reborn today compared to the first leg. In Russia, VakıfBank lost by a 3-2 (the end of their 36-game winning streak in the tournament) but Dinamo was far from that level in the rematch which was best seen in the third set – 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-8). Thus, VakıfBank qualified to the Champions League semifinals for the seventh year in a row.
The Dutch opposite Lonneke Slöetjes top-scored for the winning side with 19 points. VakifBank once again showed why they are the best blocking team of the competition as they made 11 kill blocks today (Serbian Milena Rašić topped with three). Nataliya Goncharova was the only player in Dinamo with double digits – 11 points.
