The Italian side Imoco outshined Fenerbahçe for the second time in one week to advance to their second-ever Champions League final (the first one was in 2017), but the first-ever final under the new format of the tournament.
The “Panthers“ achieved another straight-set victory against the Turkish Fenerbahçe, this time on the road, partially 25-18, 25-22, 28-26. Imoco cleared their path to the Super Finals in Berlin on May 18 after winning the second set in which they set up as much as eight kill blocks (13 overall)! The third set was played only for the sake of prestige but Imoco still managed to claim it.
The Croatian opposite hitter Samanta Fabris top-scored for Imoco with 17 points while Anna Danesi made six kill blocks. Mexican Samantha Bricio noted 15 points for the “Yellow Angels“. Eda Erdem Dündar set up five kill blocks.
In the Super Finals, Imoco might face another Italian team in case Igor Gorgonzola Novara eliminate VakıfBank İstanbul tomorrow. And they are close to doing so!
