Austria downed France for the second time in the 2019 European Golden League as they beat them at home in Schwechat by a 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-23, 25-11) in Pool B. This was Austria’s second win in the tournament (2-2 record; 6 points) and both came against the same rivals. Katharina Holzer scored 21 points for Austria, who will keep fighting for the second place in the pool (and eventual semifinal) against Hungary in the remained two rounds. Lucille Gicquel made 18 for France (0-4; one point), who will try to retain their place in the Golden League (the lowest ranked team in the group of the three last placed sides will descend in the Silver League) in the next two games against pool leaders Croatia (4-0; 10 points).

By beating the Czech Republic 3-0 (15-14, 25-21, 25-18) with 16 points from Svitlana Dorsman, Ukraine kept the lead in Pool A with a 3-1 record and 9 points.

Belarus are still unbeaten in Pool C with a 4-0 record and 11 points as they defeated Azerbaijan by a 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 26-28, 36-34) thanks to Hanna Klimets who poured in 19 points.
