The Turkish side THY, who is under the patronage of the country’s airline company Turkish Airlines, became the first team to secure the berth in the 16th Finals of the Challenge Cup via Qualification Round. THY prevailed over MCM-Diamant Kaposvári from Hungary at home in the face-off between the two European Cups debutants.
The Turkish girls swept rivals in the first leg at home by a 3-0 and, while they recorded a four-set win in the rematch: 3-1 (23-25, 25-9, 25-9, 25-21). The Hungarian team really embarrassed itself today by scoring single digits in as many as two sets! The Czech Aneta Kocmanová Havlíčková tallied 14 points for THY. Serbian Tatjana Matić scored 10 for Kaposvári. In the 16th finals, THY will play Spanish team Ibsa CV CCO 7 Palmas.
