CL W: Scandicci achieve memorable win against VakıfBank on road

The Italian side of Savino del Bene Scandicci accomplished the feat on their 2019/20 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League debut!

In their first CEV Champions League match this season, Savino del Bene Scandicci from Italy beat four-time winners VakıfBank Istanbul on the road in Turkey by a 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 13-25, 25-15, 15-11). Scandicci recorded an important victory in Pool B, in which they were about to fight for second place with Lokomotiv Kaliningrad region from Russia. But, Scandicci beat the odds already on their debut.

Mexican Samantha Bricio top-scored for the Italian side with 15 points, while the Pole Agnieszka Kąkolewska and Serbian Jovana Stevanović made 4 kill blocks apiece. As for VakıfBank, they were led by Scandicci’s former player Isabelle Haak. The Swede has tallied 18 points. Ebrar Karakurt set up 5 kill blocks.
