Germany started the 2020 European Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Apeldoorn superbly. The “Butterflies” (Schmetterlinge), beat continental vice-champions and favorites number 1 for earning a spot in Tokyo from the Old Continent, Turkey, by a 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21) in Pool B. Thus, Germany made a huge step towards the semifinals of the event.
Hanna Orthmann and Louisa Lippmann stood side by side when it comes to the contribution in Germany’s win with 23 and 22 points, respectively. The teen middle blocker Camilla Weitzel served 4 aces. As for Turkey, Zehra Güneş scored 17 points, including 4 kill blocks, which as many kill blocks as Eda Erdem Dündar made.
