After three days of the competition at the U19 EuroVolley in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, two national teams earned a promotion to the semifinals – Turkey and France – both from Pool II.
Turkey beat co-hosts Croatia by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25.19) in Osijek in their second match, making it 2 out of 2 without dropping a single set. The Galatasaray outside hitter Elif Su Eriçek paved the way of Turkey to the semifinals with 17 points today. Hanife Nur Özaydınlı, the new middle blocker of Karayolları, made 4 kill blocks. As we already said, France secured a spot in the semis, too, as they swept Bulgaria. France will have the chance to claim the top spot in Pool II in case of beating Turkey in a direct clash in the last round, in two days.
In Pool I, Serbia redeemed for a surprising loss to Belarus yesterday and defeated co-hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica in straight sets, partially 25-23, 25-11, and 25-13. Except for the libero Bojana Gočanin, all 11 players from the roster today scored at least one point for the winning side, but none finished the match in double digits. Given that Belarus were better than Slovakia (3-1), three teams from this pool will have equal chances to occupy two semifinal slots in the continuations of the competition: Serbia, Poland, and Belarus.
