Russia will have the chance to defend the title in the U20 EuroVolley as they edged Belgium in a dramatic semifinal match in Brno. The “Zbornaya“ came back from 1-2 to earn a place in the gold medal encounter: 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13).
Roman Murashko was Russia’s most prolific player today with 22 points, including 5 aces. Ilya Kazachenkov made 73 % reception (37 % excellent). Ferre Reggers tallied 29 points for the “Red Dragons“, while Wout D’Heer had 5 blocks.
In the other semifinal, also in Brno, Italy achieved a straight-set win, a sixth of a kind in as many games, over Belarus.
Alessandro Michieletto put down 21 points through 71 % attack for the “Azzurri“. Uladzislau Babkevich scored 12 points for the losing side. Dzmitry Dyleuski had 5 blocks.
