Romania’s C.S.M.Arcada Galaţi qualified for the eighth-finals of the Men’s CEV Cup, even though they suffered a defeat from Bulgaria’s Montana Volley in the rematch of the 16th finals of the competition, away, in five sets. The advantage from the first match (3-0) helped Arcada to pass to the next round.
Montana (Russian Maksim Sapozhkov 25 points, Radoslav Popov 4 aces, Stefan Chavdarov 4 blocks) were close to pushing today’s match today to the golden set given they had 2-1. The final score was 25-18, 16-25, 25-20, 21-25, and 15-9 after 103 minutes of play. In the 1/8 finals, Arcada will face Dutch team Amysoft Lycurgus Groningen in Moscow, Russia, as these two teams were assigned to Group 1.
