Russia’s Dinamo Moscow swept Romania’s C.S.M. Arcada Galați at home in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Men’s CEV Cup and advanced to the semifinals. Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov top-scored a team from the Russian capital with 17 points, collected through an 81 % (13/16) attack.
Mostly thanks to Canadian Ryan Sclater (14 points, 71 % attack; 12/17), France’s Montpellier Castelnau UC didn’t have much trouble surpassing Serbia’s OK Niš in the quarterfinal encounter at home ground (3-0).
Belgium’s VC Greenyard Maaseik overcame Spain’s CV Guaguas Las Palmas in five sets in 133 minutes of a play in Las Palmas to complete the semifinal lineup. Jolan Cox tallied 19 points on the winning side. Pieter Verhees set up 5 blocks, while the Dutchman Just Dronkers had 83 % reception (53 % excellent). Maaseik will face Russia’s Zenit Saint Petersburg, who progressed yesterday, in the semifinals.
