In the return match of the Qualifying Round (1/32 finals) of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2023 | Men, the Polish giants, PGE Skra Bełchatów, beat the Dutch team of Dynamo Apeldoorn 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) and confidently advanced to the 1/16 finals. The PlusLiga team had made a serious advantage after winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, and 25-19) on the road in the first leg, so its head coach, Joel Banks, decided to send in a few players who had played less thus far, among whom the opposite, Wiktor Musiał, stood out with 17 points. In the next stage, Skra will face France’s Chaumont VB 52 in a duel between the two teams ranked among the favorites for the trophy.

The most exciting rematch was played in Switzerland. The home team of Lindaren Volley Amriswil was forced to cling on for their life even though it won the first leg against Germany’s WWK Volleys Herrsching with a score of 3-2. Their rivals took a two-set lead today, but Amriswil managed to turn around and reach the Golden Set, in which they prevailed 15-11 to progress to the next stage where they’ll face Serbia’s Partizan Beograd. Frenchman John Wendt of Amriswil tallied a match-high 29 points, including 4 blocks. Ramon Diem made 74% reception (19 digs, 58% excellent).

Also today, Slovenia’s Calcit Kamnik and Romania’s C.S. Arcada Galați made it through to the 1/16 finals to join Germany’s SVG Lüneburg, Croatia’s Mursa Osijek, and Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda Beograd, who did it last week through qualifications as well.
