CEV CL W: After 114 minutes of play, Fenerbahce broke Chemik Police resistance

The race for the last three remaining spots in the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League began tonight. While all Pool winners secured their places in the Champions League quarterfinals, the second-placed teams, as well as the best third-placed team, playing a playoff stage to decide who will claim the final three spots to complete the quarterfinals.

In the first match, Grupa Azoty Chemik Police hosted Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul and we saw a thrilling match in 5 sets.  Fenerbahce needed 114 minutes to win against Chemik Police 3-2 (25-14 27-29 25-23 22-25 15-10). Melissa Vargas was the match top scorer with 26 points, and Arina Fedorovtseva added 25 for Fenerbahce. Martyna Czyrnianska and Jovana Brakocevic Canzian scored 20 points each and were Chemik Police top scorers.

The decisive rematch will be played on March 2.
