CROATIA – In today’s Women’s Qualifiers Round 1, Pool 1 action saw a stellar performance from Asterix Avo Beveren, who secured a 3-0 victory against host HAOK Mladost Zagreb. The intense match showcased scores of (30-28, 25-19, 25-21). Andrea Mihaljevic shone for HAOK Mladost, being the top scorer with 14 points. Close behind was Leonarda Grabic with 10 points. On the Beveren side, Iris Vos was remarkable with 13 points, supported by Manon Stragier’s 10.
Earlier in the day, OK Herceg Novi bested OK Gacko, clinching a 3-1 victory (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20).
This season sees a revamped format for the qualifiers. Teams are split into two tournaments for Round 1, with the top two from each advancing to Round 2. From there, only two will make it to the pool phase.
For Round 1 of the CEV Champions League Volley Women:
- Pool 1 comprises of OK Gacko, Asterix Avo Beveren, Mladost Zagreb, and OK Herceg Novi.
- Pool 2 features CS Volei Alba Blaj, CV Gran Canaria, and Kralovo Pole Brno. It’s worth noting that Hapoel Kfar Saba, initially set to compete, has withdrawn. All their matches will be recorded as 0-3 losses.
