This win follows their quarter-final triumph over Volero Le Cannet. The game, stretching over 130 minutes, showcased the physical and mental stamina of Grobelna and her teammates, who managed to overturn a first-set loss and push through to victory.
The match was a test of resilience, with Chieri recovering from an initial setback to dominate the second set. Despite losing the third set narrowly, Chieri bounced back in the fourth and finally secured their win in a nail-biting tie-break. The victory was attributed to powerful serve, including 11 aces. Morello, who made a significant impact from the third set onwards, was named MVP, while Skinner led the scoring with 24 points, closely followed by Grobelna with 18. The return semi-final is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, in Paris.
In a surprising turn of events, Grot Budowlani Łódź was defeated in the first semifinal match of the CEV Cup by Viteos Neuchatel UC. The match concluded with a 3-1 win for the Swiss team, with sets scores of 17-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-22. Despite being the heavy favorites for this matchup, the Polish team couldn’t secure the victory. The second leg of the semifinal is scheduled for February 27.
