Asseco Resovia Rzeszów has edged closer to the CEV Cup Grand Final after a significant victory over Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce Istanbul in the first semifinal encounter. The match showcased the dominance of the Rzeszów team as they initially swept through the first two sets with impressive scores of 25-12 and 25-17.
Although Fenerbahce Istanbul mounted a resistance in the third set, managing to secure a 25-22 win, Asseco Resovia’s resilience brought them back to victory in the fourth set with a score of 25-21, concluding the match with a 3-1 win. A notable highlight of the game was Asseco Resovia’s powerful serve, contributing a remarkable 16 points to their victory.
The individual scores of the players played a crucial role in Asseco Resovia’s triumph. Stephan Boyer led the charge with an impressive 22 points, followed closely by Klemen Cebulj with 17 points, and Yacine Louati adding 12 points to the tally.
On the Fenerbahce side, Dražen Luburić stood out with 20 points, supported by Dick Kooy with 9.
In the other semifinal matchup, the Turkish squad Arkas Izmir emerged victorious over the German team SVG Lüneburg, securing a decisive 3-0 win and taking their initial stride toward the final.
