Lube vs. Liberec
Italian giants gave no chance to Czech title holders Dukla Liberec in Pool B 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20). Lube was superior even without Osmany Jauntorena. Czech side showed contours of a play that made them close to down Resovia Rzeszów in the last round, taking the lead at the first technical time-out of the second and the third set. But, thanks to 12 team blocks comparing to 5 from Liberec, good serve (8-2 in aces) and 14 points from Slovenian Klemen Čebulj, Lube reached 1-1. Unlike Serie A1 where he plays as receiver, Jenia Grebennikov once again competed as libero in the Champions League.
ACH Ljubljana from Slovenia made up to their fans for dropping down the win against Azimut Modena at opening and beat the team that caused the biggest upset so far (beating Skra Bełchatów), S.C.M. „U“ Craiova, 3-2 in Pool D. Ljubljana prevailed rivals mostly thanks to brilliant reception of 70%. Žiga Štern topped Ljubljana’s scorers with 23 points while Laurenţiu Lică collected 18 in Romanian side.
