CEV CUP M: VaLePa and Ajaccio cruise to 8th Finals, Karlovarsko spoil the party for Tiikerit

After dropping the qualification for the Champions League out of their hands for the first time in club history (losing to Russian side Belogorie Belgorod), Gentofte were also eliminated from the second CEV (European Volleyball Confederation) competiton in strength with a double straight-set loss to VaLePa. Second leg finished with 25-21, 31-29, 25-21 for the Finnish side who went to the 8th Finals.

French team GFC Ajaccio followed VaLePa’s footsteps and ran over former frequent Champions League participants Budvanska Rivijera Budva with a double 3-0 win. Florian Lacassie and Macedonian Jovica Simovski topped Ajaccio’s scorers in the second leg with 12 points each.

Tiikerit Kokkola spoiled the possibility of a perfect night for the Finnish representatives. After beating ČEZ Karlovarsko from the Czech Republic 3-2 in the first leg, Tiikerit had a good start in the re-match but succumbed to the visiting team afterwards 3-1. Michal Kriško was unstoppable in Karlovarsko with 30 points.
