Dinamo Kazan settled on the top of Pool C standings in the 2018 CEV Champions League as they wrecked the hosts Chemik Police in Round 2. The Russian silver medalists and CEV Cup winners created a 5-point gap already on the first TTO in the first two sets (8-3) and did not let it go all the way. Iz seemed that the Polish champs will have the chance to reduced the lead of the rivals as they trailed one point only at the first TTO in the third set (7-8) but Dinamo went 5 points ahead on the second TTO (16-11). Dinamo had as much as four players with double digits, which was impressive knowing the match lasted three sets. Irina Voronkova stood out with 17 points. Katarzyna Zaroślińska-Król tallied 13 points for Chemik.
VakıfBank İstanbul from Turkey defeated the Polish Grot Budowlani Łódź by a 3-1 to stay undefeated in Pool D. The Chinese outside hitter Zhu Ting was the best scorer of the defending champions with 21 points (3 aces) but Milena Rašić’s display was nothing less impressive – 18 points, including 8 kill blocks! As a team, VakıfBank made 18 kill blocks. The Belgian Kaja Grobelna scored 20 for Budowlani.
