CEV CUP W: Uralochka prevent upset vs. București, Slovenian classic goes to Branik, golden set lucky for Brno and Düdingen

The Russian Yenisei Krasnoyarsk made a double sweep of the Finnish side HPK Hämeenlinna by making 59% excellent attack and 19 points from Nataliya Malykh.

Another team from Russia advanced to the 8th finals – Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinburg. But, they did in a much more difficult way than Yenisei as their rivals from Romania, C.S.M. București, did not give up after losing 1st leg by a 3-0. In the rematch on the road, București were on the verge to make it to the golden set as they were up by a 2-1 in sets. Nevertheless, Uralochka got a grip and tied at 2-2. The Russian team won the tie-break as well but, in general, it was not of a great importance.

Turkish giants Eczacıbaşı VitrA İstanbul achieved another straight-set win over Belgian side VC Oudegem, partially 25-12, 25-17, 25-8. The Serbian opposite Tijana Bošković scored 11 points for the winners who finished the meeting with impressive numbers in their account both in excellent reception and attack – 56% and 61%, respectively.

Nova KBM Branik Maribor emerged as the winners from the Slovenian derby against Calcit Kamnik by beating them 3-1 both times. Ela Pintar topped Branik with 17 points in the 2nd leg.

Královo Pole Brno from the Czech Republic and TS Volley Düdingen from Switzerland made comebacks against their rivals and qualified for the 8th finals via golden set!
