The defending champions Neftohimik 2010 Burgas achieved a hard-fought win against Cherno More BASK Varna, which was their 8th in a row in Superliga, by a 3-1 (25-13, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18) in Round 16 and remained at the top of the standings.
CSKA kept breathing down Neftohimik’s neck as they defeated Minyor Pernik by a 3-1, despite playing without four starters! In addition to Ventsislav Georgiev, Yani Georgiev, and Ivan Krachev, who have been sidelined for a while, CSKA coach Aleksandar Popov could not count on Stanislav Petkov as well. But, one youngster took the advantage of the absence of the above-mentioned quartet to stand out – a 19-year-old outside hitter Plamen Shekerdjiev, who now play as an opposite. Once again, he topped CSKA by making 24 points. Ivan Damyanov scored 25 points for Minyor.
By losing to Levski Sofia by a 3-2, Pirin Razlog, who had an excellent start of the season, disappointed their fans for the fourth time in a row.
