WCH 2018 W: China closed Day 1 in Pool B with win over Cuba

The Olympic champions, China closed Day 1 in Pool B at the FIVB World Championship after a straight-set victory over Cuba.

China were without mercy during the whole match except in the second set when Cuban players showed a little bit better play. 

Xinyue Yuan and Zhu Ting scored 16 points each for the Chinese team while Diaris Perez Ramos was the best in Cuba with 13 points followed by Ailama Cese Montalvo who scored 12 points.

Coach of China Lang Ping: “It was our first game so I focused on getting into a match rhythm. So I used a lot of players to check out different combinations. We haven’t played Cuba for a couple of years and they were very good, especially in the second set.”

Chinese captain Zhu Ting said after the match: “I think we were able to play very well today and it was a good match.

Brazil – Puerto Rico 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-7)

Serbia – Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22)

Kazakhstan – Kenya 19:20 (12:20)
