WCH 2018 W: Yesterday the losers – today the winners

Mexico, Bulgaria and Puerto Rico are the winners of today’s matches in their Pools at the FIVB World Championship.

After Mexico suffered loss from Cameroon in the opening day, today they outplayed Argentina in straight sets and correct their score at World Champs. On the other side, Argentina are still without a win.

Samantha Bricio was the top scorer of the winning team but also of the whole match with 21 points.

In Pool B, Bulgaria crushed Cuba who have suffered the second loss at World Championship. Gergana Dimitrova and Nasya Dimitrova but as well Diaris Perez Ramos from Cuba scored 11 points each during the match.

Yesterday Puerto Rico were defeated by Brazil but today they returned three points against Kazakhstan. For the opponents, this was the second loss and for now, they share with the Dominican Republic at the bottom of Pool D.

Daly Santana and Stephanie Enright led Puerto Rico with 16 points each.

Puerto Rico’s captain Natalia Valentin said after the match:

It was very important for us to come back from last night’s loss to Brazil with a victory. It was a mental thing. Kazakhstan has strong blocks and serves. We continue to grow in this tournament.

Canada – Italy  0-3 (15-25, 15-25, 18-25)

Cuba – Bulgaria 0-3 (10-25, 20-25, 14-25)

Turkey – China (12:20)

 

Pool C

USA – Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-11)

Azerbaijan – Korea 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18)

Thailand – Russia  (12:20)

 

Pool D

Brazil – Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-22)

Kazakhstan – Puerto Rico 0-3 (21-25, 15-25, 22-25)

Kenya – Serbia (12:20)
