WCH 2018 W: Chinese storm past Turkey, Serbia left Kenya on 33 points

China and Serbia scored their second wins at the 2018 FIVB World Championship in Japan.

Today, China outplayed Turkey in straight sets although the Turkish team was close to make a change in the second and third sets.

Zhu Ting who for two seasons plays in the Turkish league expectedly was the top scorer of the winning team with 16 points helped by Changning Zhang who scored 12 points while one of the youngest players of Turkey, Ebra Karakurt was the best in her team with 16 points.  

In Pool D, Serbia closed the Day 2 with a victory over Kenya. European champions left opponents on 33 points and coach Terzic took the chance to prepare his team for the match with Brazil.

Jovana Stevnovic was the best scorer of the match with 9 points while Brankica Mihajlovic scored 8 points. Mercy Moim stopped at 7 points.

Serbian coach Zoran Terzic:The game was like we expected. We played good enough to win. We gave all our players the chance tonight in preparation for tomorrow’s match with Brazil. That will be a big challenge as they are one of the best teams in the world.”

Azerbaijan – Korea 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18)

Thailand – Russia  (12:20)

 

Pool D

Brazil – Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-22)

Kazakhstan – Puerto Rico 0-3 (21-25, 15-25, 22-25)

Kenya – Serbia 0-3 (16-25, 9-25, 8-25)
