In Kobe, Russia defeated Thailand or better to say, survived Thailand who led 0-2 in sets.
After the third set which was easy for the Russian team, the European opponents started with good play and at the end deservedly won the match 3-2 (21-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-21, 15-9).
Nataliya Goncharova was the top scorer with 30 points followed by Irina Koroleva who scored 17 points including 7 blocks while Irina Fetisova put 6 blocks.
On the Thai side, Pimpichaya Kokram and Ajacharaporn Kongyot led the team with 19 and 18 points.
