Germany scored the second consecutive win in Yokohama and today they dominated against Argentina except in the second set. In a crazy ending to the second set, Germany won it 34-32 on their eighth set point – including four in a row from 24-20 – after Argentina had missed five of their own.

Louisa Lippmann scored 23 points and received support from captain Maren Fromm (14). Argentina’s top scorer was Lucia Fresco (15), while Elina Rodriguez added 12.

German captain Maren Fromm: “Argentina played at a high level and played hard, so it was important for us to fight back. In this sense I am really happy to win 3-0. Depending on how the rest of the games go, the points from this win may be enough to take us to the next round.”

Argentina’s captain Emilce Sosa: “We were able to keep a good level of volleyball throughout the match. The second set was difficult because we could not win when we had the chances. We need to keep this kind of level like we showed today in the coming games. We were able to show that we can play at this level.”
