Paola Egonu had an outstanding performance, scoring 45 and setting the World Record for the most number of points at the World Championship in a single match.
She was unstoppable from the beginning to the end of the game.
Italy entered the game by taking the first set and setting a total control of the game. However, in the second set, Lang Ping’s side answered by leveling the result to 1-1!
Again, Davide Mazzanti’s side dominated in the third set to take the lead. Then, we saw two amazing sets. In the fourth, Italy missed a few match points, China took the opportunity to tie the score again and they managed to do it, thanks to Zhu Ting and her moves…
In the tie-break, both sides pushed to the limits but we have to single out Paola Egonu again, who was smashing the balls very strong and the Chinese defense couldn’t handle those hits and they had to surrender and let Italy pass to the final!
As we mentioned, Egonu had 45 points, Myriam Sylla added 23, while Zhu Ting had 26 points on the other side.
