The Italian star Paola Egonu has made an impressive record even though she is 19!

Paola Egonu has scored 45 points in the semifinal match against China to push Italy to the finals! It was an absolutely amazing performance by the 19-year old opposite.

That display singled out Paola as the record holder for the highest-scoring performance in a single game at the World championship! She has defeated the previous record by Yelena Pavlova (40 points) in Kazakhstan’s 3-2 defeat to USA in 2006.

The 19-year-old opposite is now practically assured to finish top scorer at this World Championship, after opening up a 30-point lead over the Netherlands’ Lonneke Sloetjes, 291 to 261 with just one match for each remaining.
