They have defeated the Netherlands in straight sets: 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

Obviously, the Dutch girls didn’t have enough strength to overcome yesterday’s defeat against Serbia in the semifinals. They underperformed today, making a job much easier for the Olympic Champions China.

The top scorer of the game was Yingying Li, who ended the game with 20 points. In the Netherlands, Lonneke Sloetjes has won the 15 points.

The result marked the first time that China, a two-time champion, has won the bronze medal at the World Championship. Despite the loss, the Dutch recorded their best finish ever in the event with fourth place.

World Champs, The Final:

Serbia – Italy 12:40 CET

Third place game:

Netherlands – China 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 14-25)

The semifinals:

Serbia – Netherlands 3-1 (25-22, 26-28, 25-19, 25-23)

China – Italy 2-3 (18-25, 25-21, 16-25, 31-29, 15-17)
