Italy closed the first week of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Preliminary Round with a perfect record in Pool 1.

Italy

Italy

After beating Germany in Opole (Poland) on Day 3, the national team of Italy closed the first week of the tournament with a 3-0 score which can definitely be considered a success knowing that the “Azzurri“ played without important players like Egonu, Chirichella, De Gennaro…

This start for Italy in the Nations League is completely opposite from the last year’s when they lost all three matches in the first week. Also, the players coached by Davide Mazzanti’s made an excellent prelude to the second weekend which will be played on the Italian soil – in Conegliano. Indre Sorokaite top-scored for Italy with 15 points. Lena Stigrot tallied 11 for Germany who are at 0-3.
