The Dutch national team beat South Korea on a final day of the 2019 Nations League first week (Pool 4) in straight sets, partially 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Netherlands impressed against the Asian side, who played the opening week of the tournament without their major star Kim Yeon-Koung, with 11 kill blocks. The key moment that pushed “Oranje“ to the victory was a 5-0 run at 20-21 in the second set.

An 18-year-old middle blocker Indy Baijens, who made her debut for the Dutch national team on Day 1, scored game-high 12 points. Kim Hee-Jin noted 11 points for Korea.

Turkey showed that last year’s entry in the Final Six was not a coincidence. They beat Serbia on Day 3 of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League, the first week.

Turkey achieved the third victory in as many matches in the 2019 Nations League – Preliminary Round. The last one so far was quite a feat as they defeated the reigning world champions Serbia at their home ground in Belgrade, in Pool 4: 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20).

A 3-0 record is not the only thing that can make Turkey head coach Giovanni Guidetti happy but also a progress that young opposite Ebrar Karakurt showed in these three matches. A 19-year-old opposite hitter notched 20 points for the winning side (4 aces). Tijana Bošković scored 15 for Serbia.
