The USA defeated Argentina on Day 1 (Week 3) in Pool 12 by a 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21) to reach a 3-4 record in the 2019 VNL.

By suffering a defeat today, the South American side equaled their longest VNL losing streak (5), which they set a year ago. Argentina are at 2-5 as they failed to beat the United States in a major world level tournament even after five years (their last win vs. the USA came in the 2014 FIVB World Championship).

Benjamin Patch tallied 17 points for the USA, while Maxwell Holt made 4 kill blocks. Facundo Conte scored 16 for Argentina.

Kévin Tillie noted 14 points for the “Les Bleus“ who are at 6-1, while 19-year-old middle blocker Anton Brehme top-scored for Germany (2-5) with 15 points (4 kill blocks).
