Italian Cucine Lube Civitanova won the title which they had never won before! In the final of the 2019 Club World Championship, they beat three-time champions and a home side of Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei by a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 31-29, 25-21). Thus, the trophy in the men’s competition remained in Italy as Itas Trentino took it last year. After losing two finals before, Lube have finally reached the highest step on the podium, less than seven months after winning the CEV Champions League.
The third set turned out to be crucial because Cruzeiro failed to convert as many as six set points to take the lead in sets of 2-1. Cuban-born duo Osmany Juantorena – Yoandy Leal scored 20 points apiece for the winning side, while Argentinean Facundo Conte tallied 21 points for Cruzeiro.
