Turkey and the USA finished the first two weeks of the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League in the Rimini bubble (Italy) as undefeated.
Turkey trampled over weakened Olympic champion China at the closing of the second week of the 2021 Women’s VNL. Led by Ebrar Karakurt (17 points), Eda Erdem Dündar (5 blocks), and Naz Aydemir Akyol (84.6 % digs; 11/13), Turkey reached 6-0 in the competition.
The titleholder USA (Michelle Bartsch-Hackley 18 points, including 4 aces) improved to the same record after sweeping winless Thailand.
Japan continued to amaze as it downed Russia in straight sets, mostly thanks to Sarina Koga (21 points), noting the fifth win (one defeat).
Britt Herbots had another rich performance as she poured in 32 points (4 blocks) for Belgium in a five-set victory over South Korea, topping the leaderboard with 139 points. The ’Yellow Tigers’ achieved third success in a row in the VNL 2021.
