The Slovenia National Team threw another world giant on its knees in the 2021 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League in Rimini (Italy).
Slovenia beat Russia at the closing of Week 3 of the 2021 Men’s VNL. It was truly a remarkable victory of the side from the Balkans given that, less than 24 hours ago, it outplayed France in an exhausting five-setter and after a turnaround. Slovenia staged another turnaround, this time not from 0-2 but from 1-2 in sets, and maintained pretty good chances of qualifying for the semifinals. Klemen Čebulj shone on the winning team with 32 points.
Germany displayed strong performance and stunned Iran: 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13). The team coached by Andrea Giani improved to 4-5 mostly thanks to Linus Weber (15 points) and Tobias Krick (4 blocks). Saber Kazemi was on a high level for the Asians, scoring 27 points.
Argentina achieved an important victory over favorite Japan 3-1 (30-32, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21). Federico Pereyra again led the South Americans, tallying 22 points. The teams commanded by Marcelo Méndez reached their fourth victory in the tournament.
