Turkey’s Fenerbahçe kept their semi-final chances alive after beating Brazil’s Praia 3-1 in Round 2 of the 2021 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship group stage – Pool A. At the same time, Praia’s chances to reach the same now got complicated as they will have to seek progression over the reigning champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley in the last round (Imoco’s win would push Fenerbahçe to the next stage). Russian duo Fedorovtseva – Lazareva was splendid for the ‘Yellow Angels’, scoring 28 points apiece. Serbian Mina Popović made four blocks.

VakıfBank İstanbul made their debut in this year’s edition of the tournament, doing it in a powerful way by conceding only 40 points in total to Kazakhstan’s Altay. This way the Turkish side already secured qualification to the semi-finals via Pool B given that Altay remained on zero points and without any more matches to play.
