Because the Russian men’s and women’s national teams aren’t permitted to compete in international and continental events until further notice, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) had to find their replacements. The Bulgaria National Team will compete in the Women’s VNL 2022 instead of ’Zbornaya’. The Russian Men’s VNL 2022 replacement will be named at a later date.

Following the relocation of the VNL 2022 pools scheduled to take place in Russia, the FIVB has announced that Gdańsk, Poland, will host the Week 3 pool of the men’s event from July 5-10, and Sofia, Bulgaria, will host the Week 3 pool of the women’s event from June 28 to July 3. The Bulgarian capital will thus host two successive weeks in VNL 2022 given that the men’s Week 2 pool is also scheduled there.
