The Poland National Team almost turned the finished job in Pool 1’s match of the 2022 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League against Germany in Shreveport-Bossier City, USA, into a blunder.

The Poles were leading 2-0 in sets against the Germans but it turned out it was too early to proclaim themselves winners of the match. They started making mistakes in series and the success slowly began to slip out of their hands. Vital Heynen’s ladies leveled at 2-2 but were a much weaker rival in the tie-break. Ultimately Poland joined the large group of national teams that closed Week 1 with a 3-1 record. Olivia Różański finished the encounter as Poland’s top scorer (22 points; 4 blocks). Zuzanna Górecka was on a high level in reception (70.37%; 20/27).

The Turkey National Team closed the Week 1 campaign in front of its own crowd in Ankara (Pool 2) in a victorious manner, recording the 3rd success (1 defeat). Led by Ebrar Karakurt (21 points) and Zehra Güneş (5 blocks), the team commanded by Giovanni Guidetti downed Belgium in 4 sets.
