In the duel between the leaders of the Italian Championship – SuperLega Credem Banca and the Brazilian Championship – Superliga 1XBET Masculina, within Pool A, Perugia got the better of Cruzeiro in the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship. The European team won by 3 sets to 1 against the hosts in Betim; the splits were 25-21, 25-21, 29-31, and 25-21. As a result, Perugia took first place in Pool A, and Cruzeiro took second place. Thus, the ’Block Devils’ will face Brazil’s Minas (second in Pool B) in the semi-finals. On the other side of the bracket, Cruzeiro will face Trentino Itas (No. 1 in Pool B), also from Italy.

Perugia conquered their second victory in the Club World Champs, winning their pool. We saw two excellent sets by Andrea Anastasi’s men. In the third set, there was the reaction of the home side pushed by the warm and passionate public, but Perugia, convinced of their strength, prevailed in the fourth set. Cuban Jesús Herrera was the best scorer on the winning side with 20 balls. Argentine Sebastian Solé had 5 blocks. Wallace de Souza notched 10 points for Cruzeiro.

Trentino had done the same as their fellow countrymen from Perugia a few hours earlier. They trimmed a dry 3-0 against Minas and closed their pool (Pool B) undefeated. It was a game without great difficulties for Angelo Lorenzetti’s wards, who have always controlled the ambitions of the Belo Horizonte side. Daniele Lavia top-scored the most-titled team in the competition with 12 points, having 73.33% attack (11/15). Teenage outside hitter Arthur Bento ’Arthur Buczmiejuk’ was the main protagonist for Minas, scoring 11 points through a nearly 70% attack (10/13).
