Perugia won their second trophy of the season after the Italian Super Cup. In Betim, Brazil, the ’Block Devils’ took their first FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship at the first attempt. And they did it by beating their fellow countrymen, Trentino, the most-titled club in the competition, who spoiled their perfect record of the final matches, which was five out of five. Perugia went under several times and recovered several times during the all-Italian clash in the Minas Gerais state. Especially in the third set, when the five-time winners and six-time final contestants were 18-14 up. However, once again, Perugia came back.

Cuban-Polish Wilfredo León was the most efficient in Perugia, tallying 17 points. Ukrainian Oleh Plotnytskyi served 4 aces. Alessandro Michieletto scored 19 points for Trentino, including 4 aces. Daniele Lavia made 4 blocks.
