VNL M: First Week Ends with Triumphant Performances from Brazil, Argentina, and Germany

In the final games of VNL 2023’s first week in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and Germany marked impressive victories.

Brazil, with a 3-1 victory over the USA (25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 25-21), interrupted the latter’s winning streak, leaving Japan as the sole undefeated team. Brazil’s leading scorers were Ricardo Lucarelli (19 points) and Alan de Souza (17 points), while Jake Hanes and Cody Kessel topped the US team with 11 points each.

Argentina also shone, winning a tie-breaker against the Netherlands (34-36, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 15-10). Pablo Koukartsev stole the show with 25 points, with notable assists from Luciano Vicentin and Luciano Palonsky.

Lastly, Germany overcame hosts Canada 3-1. Tobias Brand, Yan Bohme, and Tobias Krick spearheaded Germany’s win with 20, 19, and 13 points respectively. Despite Ryan Sclater’s 16-point performance, Canada couldn’t stave off the defeat.
