Ran Takahashi and Yuki Ishikawa played stellar roles in Japan’s victory, contributing 17 and 16 points, respectively. Miyaura also put in an impressive performance, adding 13 points, with an impressive 10 points in the final set alone. Their combined efforts have put Japan in a solid position after the first week, and only the former leaders, USA, could displace them should they secure all three points in their last match in Ottawa later today.

Meanwhile, the defending champions, France, are left with a 1-3 win-loss record, amassing only three points. They now stand at 12th in the league table, a disappointing position considering their past triumphs.

The French team’s efforts were led by Theo Faure, the match’s highest scorer with 21 points. His teammates Kevin Tillie and Timothee Carle contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, the French team fell short of securing a victory.
