As we step into the third week of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL), the competition is heating up in Korea and Thailand, promising some fantastic matchups and thrilling performances.
In the Pool 5 round in Suwon, the action started with Germany clinching a victory over the Dominican Republic with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21) scoreline. Hanna Orthmann and Lena Stigrot led the German side, scoring 20 and 19 points respectively, while Brayelin Martinez topped the chart for the Dominican Republic with 21 points.
In the second game in Suwon, Bulgaria triumphed over hosts Korea with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 25-15) win. Radostina Marinova led the Bulgarian squad with 19 points, followed by Maria Yordanova with 18 points. Kim Daeun, the highest scorer for Korea, also finished with 19 points.
In Pool 6, hosted by Thailand, Canada pulled off a clean sweep over Croatia, winning 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 28-26). Alexa Gray led the scoring for Canada with 20 points, supported by Kiera Van Ryk and Jazmine White who both contributed 10 points each. For Croatia, Ema Strunjak and Martina Samadan were the top scorers with 10 points each.
Finally, the Netherlands triumphed over hosts Thailand in the second match of the day, scoring a 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-20) win. Jolien Knollema topped the match scorecard with 15 points, and Indy Baijens added 13 for the Netherlands. The host team’s Chatchu-On Moksri with 13 points and Ajcharaporn Kongyot with 8 points were the most effective on their side.
