The French women’s volleyball team celebrated a victory in the 2023 Volleyball Challenger Cup. In a decisive final held in Laval, France dominated Sweden in four sets, ultimately securing a spot in next year’s prestigious Volleyball Nations League. This triumph comes at an opportune moment, right before the Olympic Games are set to take place in Paris.
The final match saw France overpowering Sweden in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-15) victory. Outstanding performances by Helena Cazaute and Lucille Gicquel, who contributed 25 and 23 points respectively, fueled France’s win. On Sweden’s side, top scorers were Isabelle Haak with 18 points, accompanied by Anna Haak and Alexandra Lazic who each added 13 points.
The day also saw Colombia clinching third place, after a closely contested match with Ukraine. The Colombians prevailed 3-1 (25-23, 12-25, 26-24, 25-22), earning them the bronze medal in this hard-fought tournament.
