Arlington, USA – In a highly-anticipated Volleyball Nations League 2024 clash, defending champions Türkiye edged out Olympic champions USA in a five-set thriller. The match saw intense back-and-forth action before Türkiye clinched a 3-2 victory (21-25, 25-20, 25-21, 12-25, 15-12), remaining undefeated in Texas with four wins.

Turkish stars Melissa Vargas and Ebrar Karakurt shone, scoring 27 and 19 points respectively. The USA’s top performers were Jordan Thompson with 16 points, Jordan Larson with 14, and Dana Rettke with 13.

Türkiye’s sixth win in eight matches places them fifth with 18 points, while the USA sits eighth with 13 points from four wins.

Earlier, Canada kept their Olympic hopes alive by defeating Korea 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-18), led by Kiera Van Ryk and Alexa Gray, each scoring 13 points. In the final match of the day, Germany triumphed over Bulgaria 3-1.
