The Netherlands and Canada have once again exchanged positions on the FIVB World Ranking cut-off for Olympic qualification, adding excitement to the race for Paris 2024. The Netherlands’ sweeping 3-0 victory over France in Macao boosted their ranking, putting them 2.21 points ahead of Canada. Dutch outside hitter Jolien Knollema led the charge with 14 points, supported by Indy Baijens’ four aces.

Meanwhile, Brazil maintained their unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win over Thailand, led by Gabriela Guimaraes’ 13 points. In another key match, Italy’s straight-set victory over China allowed Japan to overtake China in the Asian Olympic qualification race. Italy’s Paola Egonu dominated with 16 points, helping Italy secure third place in the standings. China, now sixth, remains in a strong position for overall qualification.

Brazil Stays Unbeaten in VNL

Brazil continued their winning streak in the VNL, defeating Thailand 3-0 and remaining just below table leaders Poland. Four Brazilian players scored in double digits, led by Gabriela Guimaraes.

Italy’s straight-set victory over China allowed Japan to claim the top spot for the Asian berth at Paris 2024. Italy’s Paola Egonu shone with 16 points, keeping Italy in strong contention for Olympic qualification.
